I never posted any pics, but I did another test over the winter just to see what would happen. I left the plate out for about 4 months. Dry air that time of year, but snow, ice, and rain. The oil gave up first as normal. The frog lube was the next to fail. Berts bees, and my beeswax mix held up all winter. They're not perfect, but not bad. I did leave a thicker coating on than what I would want for a knife, cause you can feel a lot of dirt sticking on it.
I had no dog in the fight. I just wanted to actually try all stuff I had around, and find something food safe if I could. I was just looking around in the garage. I've got a steel shaft I can clean up and try this again. I'm guessing it's some kind of tool steel. Maybe the results would change???
