If I hadn't already read that you were an engineering student in your other thread, this idea would tag you as an engineering nerd. :D

I think it's a great idea, but then I'm an engineer of a sort, as well. Plus a list maker. :D

SE: Serrated edge
EDC: Every Day Carry
SD: Self Defense
KAI: Parent company of Kershaw, Shun and Zero Tolerance
HRC: Rockwell hardness on the C scale

SRBS: Single Row Bearing System
MRBS: Multi Row Bearing System
SRRBS: Single Row Roller Bearing System
DRRBS: Dual Row Roller Bearing System
HRD: Hoback Rolling Detent
LBS: Lock Bar Stabilizer
DLC: Diamond Like Carbon
PVD: Physical Vapor Deposition

This seems do-able, provided there is a clause for a subcategory of Busse acronyms...

Where was this list when I started here 10+ years ago. I was lost as all get out with some of these terms. Great idea!

OP-original poster
A/O-assisted opener
POS-piece of sh**
D/E-double edge
S/E-single edge
D/A-double (dual) action
S/A-single action
PE-plain edge
IMO-in my opinion
YMMV-your mileage may vary
LEO-law enforcement officer

DPS: Degrees Per Side (for edges)
LM: Leatherman
GEC: Great Eastern Cutlery

@witty: You should have started the thread then; would have saved me the work! ;)

@Sturubu: Give me the acronyms, I'll give you the category! BTW, thanks for the subtle reminder: acronym is surely a more correct word than abbreviation in this context.

RIL = Reeve Integral Lock (versus IRL = in real life)
MT = multitool, or Microtech, or Mule Team. Depends on context.

Great idea! :thumbup:

NIB = New In Box
LNIB = Like New In Box
BRKT = Bark River Knife & Tool
SB = Super Blue
OD = Olive Drab
OTF = Out The Front

21 posts and making "official" threads[emoji2] folks sure have taken to you quickly redwoodgirl!

I think if you search acronym in general you will see others like it. Maybe you all can cross reference the threads. I'd link but don't know how...

Some of those are made up - how are they on an "official" list

All of them are made up. I don't think there are any naturally occurring acronyms.

Also,
PM2: Spyderco Paramilitary 2
XL: Extra Large (Yes, obvious and pretty universal, but if we're gonna do this we should do it right)
HD: Heavy Duty
RFP: Right Front Pocket
LFP: Left Front Pocket
RRP: Right Rear Pocket
LRP: Left Rear Pocket
BHK: Blind Horse Knives
CNC: Computerized Numerical Control
CAD: Computer Aided Design

KLO - Knife-like Object. A broad category that includes sub-$4 pocket knives, 88 cent kitchen knives, 35 cent steak knives and "surgical stainless steel" items.
