Review CRK Large Sebenza 21 Glamour Knife?

To me a CRK is like a diamond they are only worth what they are because he only makes a certain amount of them available per year. But hey, it's just my option on the price point matter. It seems I will actually just need to buy one use it and then resell if I don't like it
There are plenty of CRKs available brand new from dealers. They are a small company but these are not like Grimsmo Norsemen. You can have one in your hands by Tuesday or Wednesday.

On a side note, I honestly can't tell if you are trolling but it definitely doesn't seem like you want one. So my recommendation is to skip it.

OP: I'm going to give you my opinion for what it is worth. Let me preface that by stating that I'm a fairly late comer to the knife community but by the grace of having some proverbial spare coins in my pocket, the majority of sound information available on this BF Community, my ability to be both curious and fast learner, I have managed to get my hands on quite a few knives from some great and reputable knife makers to include CRK.

The first CRK which was offered to me by a trusted forumite was a safe queen plain Large Sebenza 25. The forum buddy knew that I had a very strong penchant and high expectations for extremely sharp knives out of the box, specially if I was paying north of $350 or so for them. He did caution me that was going to be the case with most CRKs he had personally experiences and that CRKs were sort of an "acquired taste". He assured me that if I did not like it immediately, he would take it back but even if I decided that it was not for me down the road with some use and wear, I would not be losing too much $ as there were always high demands for used CRKs which were priced correctly / competitively. At the time, i was your typical Spidie flickers and could not wrap my head around that Large 25, but I knew immediately that the feel, fit and finish were all exemplary as compared to anything else I had owned up to that point, but the dull(ish) blade edge was disappointing to tell the truth! Since I was not too adept with sharpening the edge myself at that time, I let it go on here for about the same which I had into it.

Thereafter, I horse traded and bought / sold some more folders of other brands, but I missed that Large Sebbie. So a couple of month later I acquired a used Large 21 which was not as nice and minty fresh as my past Large 25. I held onto that one for a month or so but let that one go, again for very little loss of $ and well worth the experience. Since then, I have further horse traded some more in the CRK realm and lately I just bit the bullet and bought a brand new Wilson Combat Umnanzaan which always had me intrigued. To cut a long story short, I will hang onto my Zaan because I like many aspects of this knife from its tough ruggedness to its aesthetics and the way which it feels in my hands. Again, I was disappointed with the dullish edge but I have come to understand as to why they do it the way they do it and that if I wanted to make it hair whittling sharp instead of the more rounded convex edge it comes with from the factory, I have several alternative options...

Are they "glamour" knives? In my book, a 300 / 400 / 500 or even a 1000 $ knife is not a "glamour" knife, if the definition is to mean for "show" only. It is a very well put together folder which is capable of performing many tasks that both a $50 folder and then a $5000 folder are both most likely capable of. But I know this: unless I lose the darn thing, it will most likely last me a life time because there seems to be a great Company standing behind this product. I honestly can not say the same about those other two knives which I have made inferences to! In closing, I am not a fanboy and I may not buy many other CRKs to keep and to use but as an aspiring connoisseur of finer yet reasonably affordable folders, I would not hesitate to recommend CRKs / Sebbies, as I would not stop myself from seeking them out for my own purposes and desires.

This is exactly the type of answer I was looking for. It seems I was in the wrong spot of this forum haha. There is no doubt that there would be no money lost in case that I don't like the CRK..I've heard that from many people so I'm not worried on that aspect. That alone makes it harmless to "take one for a spin" which I'm glad to hear..
It's funny we all must have this sickness we've adopted since we first got into knives and just some can control it better than others. I started with a Spyderco Delica wasn't enough, moved onto a BM 940-2 (great knife) but I needed more, so I went to a M390 PM2 which is fantastic, then I realized I wanted to carry "light" again but I was sick of my BM so I bought a ZT 0450CF lol, and now I'm on my way to purschasing a 400 dollar CRK just because I feel the need to experience all this hype about the craftsmanship. I'm an electrical contractor so I appreciate a finished product immensely.

^^^ and you very well may move on to try customs, mid tech or other high end production knives at some time. Even if you do, you may find the Sebenza was where you should or want to be. If not,not
They hold their own when compared to almost any knife and many judge their customs worth by how it compares to the Sebenza.

One thing I would caution you of is this notion of "no loss" which I may have also implied so inadvertently as I should have used better phrases such as "little to very little losses". If you buy from a retailer paying the full retail price and open the box and fondle the knife in such ways that constitute to be beyond mere reasonable inspection of the knife, you may be unable to return it to the said retailer (justifiably so). Therefore, be ready to take a 10%-15% loss right off the bat for a barely used or molested CRK specially once you add your selling fees, shipping, etc.

If you buy it used, there is always that caveat emptor that the seller willing or unknowingly failed to disclose something crucial, so you must be very diligent which onto itself may be hard to detect right off the bat if you have no other tangible experiences with a particular make. In retrospect, apart from my very first one which I had stated as a purchase from a trusted forum friend and my last one I purchased directly from Wilson Combat, the other ones which I had picked up as "lightly used", "barely used" or "LNIB" ended up not staying with me. You may want to consider making your first purchase one from a retailer because IMHO the risk / reward factor is better than getting a used one for a novice to CRKs.

Well yeah I didn't expect to turn it around and sell a 400 dollar knife for 390 bucks haha that I understand. But you make valid points as to if I should just cowboy up the extra 100 bucks and buy from a retailer rather than save that money and not be happy and screwed all in one go. Thanks for the insight Casino!

Oh god don't give me other brands to look at lol. I've heard midtech whispered here and there on post but never looked into it. I figured the next realm I can go into is a Shiro but I feel like that's a knife for after you get your dream car and whatnot lol. I'd just feel uneasy spending a grand on one knife just for s30v lol.

IMHO, a Sebenza is made to be used, especially a PJ or
Micarta. I've used my smalls for yard work (mostly cutting vines), cutting down cardboard, opening
Blister packs, and a variety of camp chores (mostly cutting rope, string, and food prep). Also some occasional whittling, notching and making feather sticks.

I have carried one on every backpacking or peak bagging trip I've done for the past 12 years (about one week/6 peaks a year) and I've never wanted more knife out of a folder. I love that it is light and easy to thoroughly clean.

My blade has gotten a little scratched up, but it's all part
Of a work knife.

I do, however, baby my Mnandi. If I had a Sebenza with graphics or wood inlays, I'd probably baby them too.

Is it worth $350 - $450 for a small? To me it is. I just like things that work and last.

I haven't felt the need for a large, but I can't imagine one would be anything but more capable.

Ya, depending on which model you get, it's a work knife. Mine goes to work every day Monday through Friday, rain or shine.

It doesn't see a ton of use because it's my backup (back pocket in a pouch). I've gone so knife nutty I actually carry 4 everyday. Seb in the back pocket, primary right front clipped, and SAK/gec in that same pocket loose.

This was my usual setup until the detent disappeared from my shiro so it's been sitting on the shelf for a couple of months, now I rotate primary.

If you get a plain or micarta or any model YOU don't want to see with wear on it/couldn't bear scratching up a bit. Super dooper knives.

The stonewash on the blade is amazing for wear as well as the blasted titanium. I dig the look of a used CRK.

Tough as metal.

Hey what knives are those besides the CRK and SAK? Look amazing haha
