My son and I got back from a pig hunt a week ago. Spent 2 days down in East Tx. We dropped 4 hogs. Unfortunately I did not get any cutting shots. Too difficult in the dark. Here are the hogs.
First hog we took backstraps and rear hams using my spyderco folder and the guides small fixed blade from Wal-Mart. Both went dull fairly quick. The next 3 were done using my new frame style backpackers knives in S35VN. One for me and one for my son. The double we did backstraps and rear hams again. The last hog we took backstraps and both front shoulders and rear hams plus the hide. Our host wanted a nice fat sow to render the fat. Just what we delivered, she had an inch of fat on her. They went through all 3 hogs with no need for sharpening. A minor touch-up brought them right back to sharp.
This is my new truck knife.
