I have here to offer to BF's,a folding slipjoint knife by veteran knifemaker Dan Burke.Dan has been making knives for over 3 decades,and rarely takes an order these days.This knife is fresh out of Dan's shop.He now resides in Newfoundland,and so his makers etch is marked "NL"
This is a Remington 1143 pattern,basically an English jack knife,with a clip point blade.Dan has added exhibition style bolster treatment to this fine knife.
It is 4.5" closed , 7-7/8" opened up. The blade is 3-3/8" from tip to the bolster,with a 3-1/8" cutting edge. The blade steel is Sandvik 14C28N,is a combo of their 13C26 razor blade steel & their common 12C27 ss. The end result,a ss that'll take a razor edge like some of the carbon steel you all know to get that "toothy" edge,but with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel.The blade is deep hollow ground & is wicked sharp.It has a hand rubbed finish,and a milled in long pull.The spring tension is exact medium,with a glassy smooth action.This knife has a very nice fit & finish,and snappy walk 'n' talk.Stainless liners & pins,ss inlaid double bomb shield is pinned (2 pins).Hafted in very pretty amber jigged bone that has a vintage look to it.The pivot system incorporates a bronze washer system alongside both sides of the blades tang,in the pivot area,for smoothness,and strength,it is "self lubricating".
The knife will ship in a leatherette padded storage case
