Having trouble with jamesk007

Heres my situatuation. I engaged in a trade with a member here about 1 month ago that lives in the UK. I sent him a NIB Spyderco Para 2 sprint with the S35VN blade. He was to send me a NIB Spyderco Dodo orange sprint. I shipped him the knife on 5-9-12 and he recieved the Para in about 9 days. I have yet to recieve the Dodo and jamesk007 is being less then helpfull. Ive been in contact with him asking him the date the he shipped it and if he can send me a picture of the custom form or receipt from the transaction. He has told me that he would go to the post office for about a week now and ask them if they know what is happening with the package but I have yet to hear any news from him about the PO. He also has told me he no longer has the custom forms or any proof that the knife has been shipped. I am at a loss of what to do so I am asking for the help of our community. If anyone knows jamesk007 or has had experience with him please chime in. I would also like advise as to what I should do in order to help my situation.

I have all the email communication between us and I have explained the situation truthfully, Im not trying to flame jamesk007, Just in need of help. jamesk007 has been informed that I was starting this thread.

Please dont chime in if your going to lecture me on dealing with the UK, I went against my gut and did the trade anyway, This experience has reinforced my gut feeling.
 
I will say that if he shipped the knife on the 10th, 3 weeks isn't abnormally long for an international package to arrive. I wouldn't be super concerned yet (although I would be anxious so I understand your feelings)

Why dispose of the paperwork BEFORE you have confirmation the knife arrived to its destination???
 
He owes you the knife promised or has to send back the one he received from you.

It was His Responsibility to ensure the knife was shipped in a way that guaranteed its safe arrival.

Whether or not he has any paper work verifying he actually shipped the knife is irrelevant. You didn’t trade your knife for proof of shipping.

What would be relevant would be if he had any form of Delivery Confirmation confirming the knife was delivered or received by you- which he doesn’t.


He owes you the knife promised or the return of your knife.


Always go with your gut feeling and never let your brain convince you otherwise- it's a survival instinct.
 
He knows you were posting this thread but didn't try in any way to convince you that everything was okay?
I hate to say it but it looks like you may have gotten taken.
Why he would throw away the forms and receipts before he knew you got it makes no sense at all.
I don't normally ship out of country but always hold onto DC#'s and receipts until I know the other member got their knife or knives from me.
It sounds like you have continued conversation with him and asked him questions and he has not done things he said he would.
It is true that 3 weeks for an international trade can be normal but if yours got there in 9 days I have no idea why his wouldn't be here. I have shipped to the UK and it took 6 days for his knife to arrive to me and 6 for mine to arrive to him.

I really hope everything works out but it looks like it may not.

I would give it a little more time and if you don't get the Dodo, ask for your knife back, if he will not give it back, bring it here again.
Either way, he owes you a knife.

It's really sad too, as I've talked to him many many times and actually really liked him, he seemed like such a nice guy.

Anyways, I hope things get settled.

Well im going through almost the same thing with him right now. Knives shipped the 26th of april. Mine left the states to him. He said he gave.mine to his neighbor(a postman) to ship off. It was an orange para 2. He told me he had bought one himself and was still waiting for it to show up and he was happy to trade for a backup with me. Just last week or so he started a trade thread saying he had two and wanted to let one go. I have been patient but two people having problems is not good. I just want my titanium millie to show up. Argghhh
 
I just traded with jamesk007, I asked him to ship first because of his low feedback, He shipped about 2 weeks ago, The knife came yesterday and I shipped my end of the deal today.
 
Well, I really hope things get sorted out.
Like I said, I've talked to him many times and he seems like a nice enough guy.
So hopefully it gets sorted out.

Rockgolfer - He never should have posted that he was trading an orange Para2 if you haven't gotten your Ti-military yet.

Thanks for all the support an input. Im deff. worried that i will never see the dodo. I now three weeks is not insane for overseas shipping but im more worried from the response he is giving me. I dont understand why he doesnt have any documents from shipping the knife.

Im glad to hear that he succesfully traded recently but im worried to hear theres another member whos been waiting since late april.

What is Bladeforums stance on this type of thing. If the Dodo indeed never shows up does he have to ship my knife back in order to stay in good standing withBladeforums?
 
H wanted to trade a strider he "had" for a pm2 and a zt 0300 I was trying to trade off.Over the course of our conversations he sent me pics of a couple different Striders from different angles for the pics of "his" knife. When I asked him about it and told him he would have to ship his end first I never heard from him again guess I should count myself lucky that I realized the pics were of different knives, I hope I am wrong but I got a feeling this guy has been looking for the right chance to get some free knives.
 
I almost traded with him once as well.
I had talked to him, he seemed okay, but most people do at first.
I'm glad I didn't.

If you don't get your dodo - you can bring it here and what will happen is it will be discussed and other members that have had problems may have to chime in. If in attempt to contact him he still doesn't provide forms, receipts, or more importantly the knife, he will then have to send your knife back to you. Same for Rockgolfer - he would have to send the knife promised or the received knife back. If he fails to do so you may be able to report him in some other way than just here on the forums. If nothing comes of it and the issue isn't resolved and he continues to scam - he may then be banned from the forums.

Yes if the Dodo never arrives he has to send your end of the trade back - whether customs got the Dodo or not. Unless of course you said "Well it's not your fault customs suck so you can keep the Para2". If you don't get the Dodo from him, the trade is not complete, both parties are not happy, and the trade needs to be undone.

I find it just a little strange that you notified him of this thread and he hasn't chimed in yet...

Before I go on I would like to say James, please just talk to me. Send my knife back if need be. I dont want this to go any further.

I will be a little patient in waiting in reply. The fact of the matter is I have your address and their are ways to take action. Pkease dont make me take those actions. Post here or email me and lets resolve this ourselves. I just want you to do whats right. That is all. Prove to me my knife was shipped.
 
The guy is in the UK, not much one can do here in the USA.

The risk you take dealing outside the CONUS.

You could make a house call...........................................?
 
I've sent him an email with a link to this thread. Let's hope that is enough to get him to respond and fill in any gaps or details about what is happening.

Do you have paperwork to prove this? Do you have paperwork to prove you shipped my knife? Look man I want to believe whats going on is what you say(i really truelly do). But you have to look at it from my side. Can you produce some evidence to back it up?

You said you gave it to your neighbor to ship? That was the response you gave me when i asked for it the first time. What about a reciept from cutlery shoppe showing the two knives? And if you dont have it, i will be happy to wait until monday when you can contact them for another copy. Have you been on bladeforum?
