The Handle on this Knife is How Old?

If you are unfamiliar with Ancient Kauri, then you are in for a treat. Besides its amazing appearance and chatoyance, here are a few facts about the world’s oldest workable wood…Radio carbon dating places the age of the Ancient Kauri trees that are being excavated from the northland of New Zealand at 50,000 years old. This is the maximum limit of radio carbon dating; it is probable that this wood is even older. The Mammoth Ivory comes from Siberia and it is approximately 15 to 40,000 years old. What a humbling comment. Thanks a ton. I do love to imagine these materials in another time and another place and bring them together to make a knife that is worthy of them.
 
Very nice. With the steel, handle material and finish, that was a great price. I love it.

Every time I see that Kauri wood I love it. I have been tempted to buy some, and just store it till I get better at making my own handles.
