Hi folks,

As I *always* do after photographing at a show, I love to post the knives that I had the privilege of shooting. You won't be disappointed.

We arrived on thursday afternoon via minvan from CT to setup in a special boardroom a small distance from the show hall. This space gives us the necessary room that I need to display my backgrounds and have room for my indoor studio. Right outside the room, for those who were hanging around the area, I brought in my 19" screen and a laptop which had a rolling slideshow of 150 knife images, including all of last year's Blade. Better than a print portfolio, for sure.

My wife Susan, and Leta Blanton were on my team to help fill orders, and run knives back and forth from the Show Hall. I can't impress upon you how invaluable these two were and how pleasant they made the whole weekend.

I was required to stay focused on shooting the knives, and choosing appropriate backgrounds. This takes a LOT of time on my end. Because of what I have learned in the past, I decided that I would not even try to edit or produce prints at the show. I am singular in my abilities to shoot and edit, and this process, for me, takes me far longer than I could produce under pressure at the show. My hat is off to ANY photographer that can pull this off successfully.

We worked from Thursday eve through Sunday afternoon shooting.

And so now I have been working steadily for the past week, editing getting approvals, and printing the mailers to send out to my clients. I finished mailing EVERY photograph to all this afternoon, and finally can allow myself the time to caption and post each amazing image. (Submission photos are in the works.)

We had a VERY successful show--again. I barely had time until sunday to peek my head into the show hall.

I did, however manage to spend a moment with a TON of forum members and makers who wandered in to say Hi. I only wish I could have spent even more time chatting, but my work remained vigilant (if not Susan!).

I know you will enjoy the fine work of the makers. I do my best to make their knives look their best.

I want to thank all my clients right here for the opportunity to provide you with photographs you will be proud of.

I gave captions to each and every photo through Fototime. It should take you a while to go through them. Please do.

Enjoy our work.

WOW! Jim the whole album is fantastic, beautiful work and the beautiful knives too. You know you could make a book, like "The Knives of Blade". Make a new one each year.
Great pictures and thank you for mine.

Brion

Great knives too, thanks for posting them.

I will have to come back and look at them a couple more times to let it all soak in.

What a group of exceptional knives. Of course, shown in their best light by Coop's outstanding photography skills.

Coop,

Thanks for posting that. I'll take a look at it tonight (European time).

Cheers,

Joss

Great shots as always Coop. Thanks for showing them. Quite a good looking son you and Susan have.

Many thanks Coop!

For those of you who have never seen Coop in action at Blade, you probably can't understand just how hard he works - loooooong days in constant motion. His able assistants deserve a big pat on the back as well.

Several comments:

  • I happened to stop in when Mrs. Brend handed Coop that awesome stag bowie and so I got to play with a bit. What an awesome piece!
  • There are a couple of daggers I would happily have snapped up had funds allowed - that terrific Cashen piece and Russ' MS test dagger top the list.
  • Glad to see that Mace got that fighter shot - it took my personal award for "best handle".
  • Don't know how I missed David Sylvester's work at the show, but I'm glad I got to see these pics - always on the lookout for a Canadian bladesmith.
  • I loved that Brion Tomberlin damascus fighter - sleek and elegant - looking forward to seeing his 5 test knives next year.
  • Trevor's a great-looking kid - takes after his Mom. :p
