FOR SALE: One of my Hero’s; “Jared Van Otterloo”, designed this killer looking piece and Mr.Master Knife Maker; Using mostly hand~tools at that, Jedi Master from Canada “Rod Olson” shaped and caressed it into what is presented to you today, the “JV REDEMPTION” which is a beast of a Button-Lock-Flipper which is what Rod is known for since only few make them (the only two I know are both from Canada and are geniuses when it comes to making pieces of titanium into functional hard~use tools that also seem like they should be in a museum. I actually believe this particular knife may be here another 1,000 years.
It’s starts out with the 1/8th inch slabs of Titanium w/ (2) beautiful pieces of Mokume around a 1/16th inch then hand contoured and then attached with blindsided hardware along with a gorgeous contoured deep pocket clip hand contoured out of Zircuti which (depending on the light) has literally a rainbow of color and depth (I’m unsure of the exact source, and may very well be made by Rod, but don’t quote me). There is some decrotive milling along the upper-outer borders of the raw Ti scale, giving the look of a faux bolsters, then in-between a sweet chunk of damasteel Shapped & Hand-Ground into that un-mistakable modified tanto, spearpoint with a generous finger~Choil and again a generous thumb rest making choking~up on the knife feel so natural and it super comfortable just like you see on a lot of Jared’s designs for other “Big Name” Knife manufacturers, for an example, like custom knife maker; Chad Nell’s, “HardLine”, yup that’s a JVO Design and it’s gorgeous (lol). Anyways, to get back to the JV Redemption the blade is literally a beautiful eye-catcher with its deep etch and polish on the blade and also a sweet 1/4 sized backspaced with the the same Damasteel material, the etch just reminds me of an old school flame tatto up your arm, like it’s alive and the smoke is literally leaving a trail. The pivot’s are identical on each side and are a (5) spoke custom type and I have have no reason to crack this gem open since it appears it rides on enclosed bearings an a couple drops of your favorite pivot lube goes a long way; when flipping the blade open, there isn’t a typical Detent as you would find on most knives but I’ve never had any issue flipping the blade open with it’s perfect gimping on the unobtrusive flipper Tab. Once the blade is open, it feels like the blade is cemented open and I have absolutely no fear of lock disengagement unless I intentionally push the small silver button and the blade literally falls shut with no resistance when the button is depressed. This is a tank of a botton~Lock and am extremely impressed with the beauty & strength of the “JV REDEMPTION”
