Hey folks, notice anything different about me? I got a big boy membership! I'm legit now. :D To celebrate I'm sharing with you my latest knife. Let me know what you think.

Blade Steel: 01 from my friend and yours Aldo, finished to 1200X
Blade Length: 9.75" to the guard, 9" edge
Guard: Antique wrought iron with black G10 and stainless spacers, As time passes and the iron darkens the spacers will start to pop.
Handle: Stabilized, figured Claro Walnut from Mark at Burl Source with 316SS pin.
OAL: 15.25"

I still need to make the sheath.

You're Bowies are outstanding. I'm no wood afficianado or anything, but that's some beautiful walnut. I thought it was koa at first.

I'm always exited to see a new knife post from you as I know I can expect very clean, quality work. Well this is no exception, beautiful work! :)

I really like the idea of letting the WI naturally patina over time allowing for a bit of a "surprise" when those SS spacers pop, for some reason the idea makes me think back about a little toy "hot wheels" car I used to have that would change color under warm/cool water... :D

Glad to see you with a legit membership, hope it means we'll being seeing more frequent knife posts from ya! ;)

Thanks everybody for your kind remarks.

John, I haven't been doing it my whole life but I sure hope I can do it for the rest of it. This is only my 25th knife I've finished. I have a long way to go!

Paul, Thanks. I tried etching the guard so the contrast would show with the spacers. But the acid blew out my fit up tolerances with the tang. So I had to re-fit and re-surface the guard. That's when I decided to just let it patina over time. It'll get there. I don't know how frequent the posts will be. I'm pretty slow. But I have some things in the works. Stay tuned. ;)

Marc, I really like this knife--I love the way you ground the top edge. Your handle shaping is also just right IMO--blade finish is awesome as well.

Is it for sale?

Nice Sitka deer hide also!!

Beautiful knife. Nice touch with letting wrought iron catch patina in time.
