i see your brother in law finished hand sanding it and you got the handle on it. since i left yesterday, did he cut himself on it anymore? HEHEHE!!! did he also do any work on the handle? that thing came out great.

Good going !
Two more knives and you will have passed Jacob in production.

Nice design and workmanship.

actually he passed me up a long time ago. im actually working on my patience right now. ive been looking over my last knives and studying them and realized ive been impatient with them and havent really paid too much attention to detail.

Great idea. Don't slow down your production though, just slow down during each step of the process. Remember, it's really easy to take metal off, but impossible to put it back on after it's gone. Same thing goes with handle materials, and bolsters, and guards, etc. As you practice, your speed will pick up with the experience you gain.

When I first began forging, I forged out a bunch of knife shaped objects. I only finished one of them. I'm now reforging the other 16. Some of them I'm actually doing some upsetting to fatten them back up some. It's all a learning process. I've even taken some vacation this week to forge out some more knives. I now have 13 knife shaped objects finished that I'm happy with and willing to finish out! I'm finally learning how to manipulate the steel to get it where I want it. I'm even getting the final shape down to where I don't have a cazillion hammer marks to clean up.

Practice, practice, practice....but practice with a purpose!

Just hang in there Mr. McDonald. The fact that you're still here and still eager shows that you have potential.
