Here is a D2 Trapper I was playing with a while ago. With the factory edge I started cutting a huge cardboard box. There was about 56 sq. ft. of cardboard there. I cut the box up into the smallest pieces that I could do easily. Here are some pics.
The knife just sang through the box, but after a few minutes would start to hang up. I would wipe the edge on my pants, and it would keep going. After all that cardboard being cut up, it was barely paper slicing sharp. Here is another pic.
You can see that it is cutting paper, but it is not smooth.
After this I spent some time on it to take the edge down finer than it was originally. It is more work than a simple steel, but obviously it holds an edge well. I did the test just to see how the knife would do. I have some other pictures of it, because I had put it up for sale on another forum.
