0170-6C differential heat treat?

Given that 0170-6C is a modified version of 52100, I assume it is possible to give it a differential heat treat, i.e., harder at the edge and softer at the spine.

Is it possible to achieve this at Camillus’s level of production? If not, is the main deterrent technical, or cost-related? Both?

Apologies if this has been brought up in the past; a quick search turned up nil for me.

Storyville,
While it certainly should be possible, there is no way to achive this in a production setting. We DO however take this into consideration when designing the blades, and for someone to break a BK&T blade[even the thinner Magnum Camp], you will certainly have to work hard at it

Thanks for the reply, Will. The Becker line is definitely proving itself in the field. I liked what you said in the other thread, about how Camillus is dedicated to developing designs that correspond with the knife's task (and size) -- not just one design stretched into different lengths, etc. Good thinking, good results!
