Little bird told me mine is on it's way. Hope it's waiting for me when I get home but tomorrow is probably more likely. Been awhile since I got a new Vantage so I'm kind of excited. Ordered it when the new catalog first came out so it's been a bit of a wait. Anyone else got one yet or at least have one headed your way?

Today was my lucky day. Got home and my new Vantage was waiting for me. This is nice!!! Love the rosewood. Looks great and it's slightly thicker than my large Vantage Pro or other Vantage models. I love the extra thickness!! Really, really feels good in the hand. Blade locks up with no play in any direction. Had to tighten the pivot just a tad to center the blade but I can flip it open with no wrist action and the lockbar is just fully engaged so that the left side of the lockbar is perfectly even with the left side of the base of the blade. The only issue I have found it that the tip is slightly blunted. Don't know if it was dropped or when they did the grinds they slightly rounded the tip. The blade itself is shaving sharp so can't complain there. After I sharpen it a time or two I believe the tip will be just fine. Overall a really nice new model in the Vantage lineup.

I'll save the pics for the SPS.

Please keep us posted!! I sure wish this came in a Pro version with S30V and Rosewood (without polymer enclosure).

What was Buck thinking with the whole polymer enclosure around the Rosewood? Makes the knife look cheap IMO.

Please post pictures when you receive it!

These are in stock at GPKnives. Check out the pictures:

Double post, sorry. This looks better than I expected, still not a fan of the polymer surrounding.

WTG. Definitely on my radar since I saw it in the dealer catalog. Looking forward to the photos Sunday.

The perimeter trim: Is it rock hard or rubbery or something in between? How, if you can tell, is it attached to the scale and the frame? Might it peel off somehow?

The rosewood vantage is a handsome knife. I would like to see a 424/501 done up like that.

It's not rubbery. Picture something like a smooth G10 material that is recessed in the center to accommodate the rosewood scales. It's rock hard. From the looks of it the black material is sandwiched between the frame and the rosewood and the screws and pivot hold everything together just like a regular Vantage scale.

So the black material is not just on the perimeter, if I understand correctly.

The black stuff is like a sandal and the rosewood is like a foot and the sandal+foot are screwed to the knife's frame.

Your sandwich description, although illustrative, made me hungry and I'm trying to cut back so I had to go with the sandal/foot bit. :)

Should everyone have one of these?

If you like the regular Vantage I think you'd like this one. As I posted earlier, the handle is a little thicker than standard and I really like that.

All I have at work is my cellphone so this is a pretty crappy photo but it kind of shows the way the liner and scale are sandwiched together. Like a foot and sandal.

Excellent. Thank you for the explanation.

Next shoe dropping alert: Just take it apart, photograph the parts and post the pics! Someone somewhere will do this I betcha. One for the team.

Have had mine ordered from Larry Oden for a while and have been anxiously awaiting it's arrival. My EDC is a paperstone Vantage. The Vantage is one of my favorite knife patterns. Can't wait to get mine! I personally like the polymer trim. I think it is a handsome contrast to the rosewood scales.

Is it only in the larger 345 size? Im like so in love with my 340, its a prefect edc for me

I know Cvovilla got one as he posted a beautiful photo of it in the last SPS but was wondering who else has gotten one and what your thoughts are on it? I'd love to see it offered in other steels and with different inserts. Maybe orange, yellow, stag, elk, carbon fiber, indigo, paua shell, etc. I've got at least 7-8 different Vantage models and this is tied for #1 on my favorites list.
