No, I am not pushing the lock bar. You are right about the bearings being nice. When I make my first flipper, I am going to think seriously about trying to use a stop pin/bar setup that would allow me to eliminate the thumb stud. It is redundant and arguably ineffective and unnecessary (on any flipper, I would think) as an opening aid.
Are you pushing the lockbar in when you use the thumbstud? The thumbstud on mine works just as well as the flipper. Jut like anything, you have to break it in a bit. The KVT bearings are very cool too.
