0560 review, am I the unluckiest ever?

So there is a common problems with these knives, but they just replace a customer's blade and hope it works...three times? That's the kind of attitude that brings about sticky accelerator pedals and unintentionally exploding airbags. Certainly not the way some other companies have handled a design flaw in a knife.

I'd ask for my money back and put distance between me and anything this firm makes.

Thanks for the heads up about this company and its products, it woke me up from any dreams of purchasing a 5%Tolerance knife :)

I wouldn't say it's common buy I wouldn't say it's rare either. Usually the knives will be worth what you paid and if something is wrong they almost always make it right even if it takes a couple of tries. It's up to you what you do but the company isn't bad, they just named themselves incorrectly for what they produce.

I guess Chris reeves could call his knives zero tolerance but very few other companies could.

Scott, are you suggesting ZT is taking the old thumbstud/blade stop out of the cracked blade and re-installing it on a new blade? That would seem rather stupid of them if that is what they are doing.

Yes. I agree it would be a strange and highly unlikely move. I was just sort of thinking out loud, more than anything. I was trying to figure out a possible reason why the OP has been through 3 blades with the same issue (crack forming in the center of the stud hole), and this possibility occurred to me. I have no idea what replacement blades from ZT look like, whether they're just the bare blades or complete units, with studs/stops already in place. I also don't know if an oversize stud would cause enough stress to crack a blade in the first place.

According to this:

In a thread from 2013 here, the OP said that ZT acknowledged there was a problem with the fitting of the thumb stud.

Perhaps there's some validity to the stud issue, though not because they're using the old ones, but because there may still be some issue with the fit in general. Again, pure speculation on my part.

Well small update, my knife is on it's way back to KAI, here's the response I originally got when I explained my situation.

Samuel,

I apologize greatly for the inconvenience I am going to issue a call tag again and we are going to reassess that knife.

Then I asked about getting my knife swapped for an 0801BW

Samuel,

That may be a possibility however I cannot say for sure until I have a chance to evaluate your knife.

I guess they want to make sure I'm not making this up and abused it or something. Understandable, but I know I didn't abuse my knife so hopefully they'll hook me up.

Sam, you may want to delete the last part of the last post. They may step up and do more than that but not if you spread around what they can do to fix a problem. Then everyone will be asking when their pocket clip is scratched whatever.
