I recently got my 0561 in the mail after a very long wait, the lock was sticky but it worked itself out with normal opening and closing. The lock up was around 50% right from the get go and is now closer to 80%. The problem i have is that the lock bar is now slipping and getting worse. Anyone come across this problem? It's very similar to an old HEST 1.0 i had, it just kept slipping until it finally released (the HEST not the 561)

Not bashing any maker, these things happen. Just curious if anyone has come across this.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about the trouble. I've seen a couple reports of it. Kershaw/ZT has plenty of successful models with integral locks, so I'm sure they'll work out the issue, not that that helps you much now.

Can it come unlocked, or does it just slip?

Thanks Kreole,
No, it doesn't come undone....yet, but it's getting worse. I"m pretty dead set on sending it back in. At this point i'm wondering if i'm the only one lol

I sent back a 0551 that the lockbar was slipping on. They sent me a new knife. My guess is that the ramp on the tang was ground to steeply.

Glad to know that :) So I think OP would get the new knife also.

I wouldn't want to claim he'll get a new knife (as I don 't have that authority) but I'm sure KAI will take care of him. They are well known to take care of any issues.

Truthfully there will be a small number of issues when you produce thousands of a product. it sucks when it happens to you but it's going to happen to someone. Again I am sure that they'll take care of you if you send it in. They received my 0551 on May 3rd and I received it back on May 11th. That's pretty good in my book!

Update: I sent the 561 back for warranty work.... I'll post up when it comes back in.

I just want to give a huge THANK YOU! To the wonderful people at Kershaw customer service. I sent in my 0561 on the 16th of May with a pretty nasty slipping lock bar issue. They got it on the 18th and shipped it back by the 22nd, it was back in my hot little hands by the 25th in perfect working condition :thumbup::thumbup:

The lock up is now perfectly smooth and early (approx 25%) The blade has the same serial number, so i know they didn't change that, It looks like it was sharpened and got some bigger blade stops / thumb studs. Maybe a new Ti lock bar side?? Not gonna speculate anymore, i'm just going to enjoy it!
