As I am slowly sinking into more Beckers (which started w/ the BK2). Would like to know what you Beckerheads will bring, for general camping/bushcraft endeavors:

1. 1 knife setup
2. 2 knife setup
3. 3 knife setup

If blessed, I am planning towards this.
1. BK2
2. BK16 - BK9
3. BK16 - BK9 - BK2

1. BK-7 or BK-12

2. BK-9 and BK-16

3. BK-9 and BK-16 and BK-14

1) BK12 (BK7, for those that haven't made that jump.)
2) BK9 + BK16
3) BK9 + BK16 + BK11 (I do like the 24, but find the 11 more comfortable after adjusting the handle)

1. 7
2. 16 (or 15) and 9
3. 9 (or 4), 2, 16 (or 15).

The 2 is the bomb! It's kinda in a class by itself and therefore challenging to put into categories. However, you just have to have one and, in that regard, it doesn't count as 1 of 1, 1 of 2 or 1 of 3 - it just is. You gotta have one, it doesn't count so you can have the 2 and still have 1, 2 or 3 in addition. Though the Machax is cool - and you also have to have one of them, it does overlap functionality to a good degree with the 9. Folk with disagree as to which is more versatile as between the 9 and the 4 but if you're thinking along the lines of wood prep, either will do just dandy.

I am a big fan of the 15 along with its big brother the 5. Both, especially the latter, excel at food prep and other slicing/dicing tasks. The 15 is also very capable in dressing and skinning game but do have to admit that the 16 hits the sweet spot (Sweet 16?) for bushcraft, game chores and general purpose afield.

Then there are the little ones - the 11 and the 14/24s. Sure their functionality is to some degree duplicate the performance of a folder but they are so much more (and stronger!) ... you just gotta have one or more of them as well.

Hopefully I have sufficiently muddied the otherwise clear waters of your question and complicated through pontification your simple and succinct interrogatory.
Hey, it's what I do!:D

4
15 and 4
11/14, 15 and 4

The decision between the 11 and 14 would solely be based upon whether I had another reliable means of opening a beer.

the 24 goes everywhere inside my pack so that has to be my single use knife (though I am considering switching that out with the 15).

My planned use at camp includes a hip knife (currently 5 or 15, but would love to upgrade to a 12) accompanied by the 24 in pack if I am restricted to only two.

Actual carry includes the packed 24, hip 5/15, and a pocketed SAK (am I allowed to say that here?)

If I went totally with Beckers: 24, 15, 4.

1. BK12
2. BK16 and BK9
3. Bk16, BK9, Silky Saw Gomboy medium tooth

in the event my Silky saw does not qualify as a knife for sake of this thread....though it WOULD be my 3rd cutting tool choice....I'd opt for the SAK 1h Trekker.

I don't think I've gone out with just one before and the just one i'd take if I had to take one would be my 2 but its sheath carries an 11 or 14 and a leatherman wingman with it so I'd have to take apart the sheath I put together to accomplish that :D

1 = BK2
2 = BK2, BK11
3 = BK2, BK11, BK4

I have a BK2 which would have to go along. Since someone else has broken the ice with another brand here I go.

I've owned a Herter's "Improved Bowie" for over 40 years. It has gutted deer, rabbits and squirrel, cut up steaks at the table and prepared tons of vegitables. After my divorced I lived in an apartment and used it as a kitchen knife for the entire 5 years before I remarried. Its made of 1095 steel just like a Becker. It holds an edge and is easy to sharpen. I've worn out the pictured sheath and replaced it. It is my old friend and companion when I needed one. I think I paid about $3 for it. It goes with me.
