1/2 HP motor please give me advice

I got yesterday from a friend Grinder 2x48 with motor capacity 1/2HP.
and here I have a question...

as far as is useful motor 1/2HP for grinding knives ??
Whether this is enough motor on which I can work?

itll work fine ,

but you cant just hog into the material really heavily ..

at my work we have some large baldor buffers and we still manage to bog em down a couple times per piece that we work on ..

just take it easy and light and it will work

I would save that motor for another project, like disc sander of light buffer and find a 1 HP or higher motor. I now use a 3 HP motor on my belt grinder, I wouldn't go back to my previous motor which was 1 HP...
