Does anybody know where I can find Micarta sheet in 1/2" thickness? I need some for a project at work and figured you folks would know where I can find it. Looking for Black/OD Green.

Thanks,

Thanks for the ideas guys, but I really need the real deal made with phenolic resin in 1/2" thick. We're doing some prototyping for enclosures for some electronics and I need the proper machinability, insulative properties, and flatness. G-10 will be too hard on tooling and just generally a PITA to work with and since we're short on time I'm trying to remove any possible stumbling blocks or irritations.

I'll give Pops a call tomorrow and see what he's got.

Thanks,

McMaster Carr sells it - search for "Garolite." Micarta is Grade "CE." Looks like they have 1/2" in lengths and widths from 6"x1" all the way to 48"x36".

Edit: sorry, but this material is brown only.

If you are looking for a lot, go professional. A quick search for phenolic sheet gives:

http://www.professionalplastics.com/MICARTA

http://www.sdplastics.com/phenolic.html

http://www.rplastics.com/lesheet.html

http://www.norplex-micarta.com/

etc.

McMaster or a knife supply house is fine for small prototyping, but if this is a work deal that will require a bunch and/or a steady supply, go to the big distributors...

...and let us know how your dealings work out in case someone wants to try a group buy or wants to buy a year's supply at a time!:D

The canvas and linen types are brown, but I think the paper version is black and one of the G-10 materials is a light olive green.
