I've got about 15-20 carbide pins, each about 1 1/8" long. They were micro drills that broke the spirals off. Any idea what to use them for? If you want them I'll send them to you. I'd rather not throw them away but I'm trying to declutter and don't see a reason to keep them.

Yes, pretty certain they are solid carbide as I can't grind into them on the belt grinder.

I'll take them, please. I'll use them for stop / locator pins on a jig I'm working on. Zaph1 I'll pm you my info

Phydeaux is the genius in this thread! Scribes, what an excellent idea. They're already pointed since they are micro drills. Imagine this with the drill portion broken off.

You can grind them to a point and use as a scriber, but if you want the point to last it's best to machine grind it using a tool grinder or at the very least spin grind it in the chuck of a drill. Then for longest life you'll want to spin lap the point with some fine diamond lapping compound to remove any striations leftover from the grinding process. If you skip either of these steps the scriber will still work, but the point will not last, as it will crumble along the grinding striations.
