1" group @100 yards from a .22 cal

This one will do that. Usually .5" (1/2 moa). Kimber 82.

You can get MOA (1" at 100 yards) with many .22s. Find the gun you're competent with, the one that feels good to shoot. It can be a bolt-action or a semi-auto. Factories are now putting out fine weapons with heavy barrels, tighter tolerances, better trigger ssytems, more ergonomic stocks, and are frequently making "packages" that include a scope.

If you want maximum performance, you can always get a nice Timney trigger, Robar stock, Leupold scope, or a Schneider barrel

Some other helpful hints are: float the barrel, bed the action, clean up thr trigger pull, Loctite the scope mount and ring screws, make sure the weapon is clean, learn how to use the sling as a shooting aide and not just to carry the rifle, and LOG EVERY SHOT fired.
