If you had to pick 1 knife to use exclusively for 1 year for any "knifetask" what would it be...you would be allowed other tool such as saws, axes etc, but only 1 knife..

Tough call but I'd have to say my Kabar Hunter, big enough for most larger knife chores but still easy to carry on the belt, plus I get the advantage of two blades like a Trapper.

Only one for ALL tasks for a year? Hmmm. That would be a big Camillus or Great Eastern trapper. I'd use the spey blade exclusively for food and the clip blade for everything else.

This would be my choice A Trapper

My old Case XX stag stockman..I carried and used nothing but that knife for about 5 years and it served me well. Of course that would be replaced with the Bose Stockman/Cattle if I could get the nerve to carry it ;)...Great topic..Thanks for posting it.

I think I'd have to place function before beauty and grab my old Vic Huntsman. It was my only knife from about 1983 to 1997 or so, so I know it can do a year solo.

One knife for one year is a tough one ? I think I would take my Camillus cm-26 folding hunter. Large enough to clean a Deer small enough to use for small game and wood craft work plus the advantage of two sharp blades

Victorinox Spartan. I get the big blade/little blade combo in addition to the other tools.

While the SAK and the folding hunters call out, I'd probably opt for a trapper. The spey blade makes a dandy spreader for peanut butter, guacamole, sour cream, etc..

I'd go with the knife that I carried from 1967 to the late 80's. My old Camillus/Buck 301 stockman. That knife served me well.

One knife? Only a year? Easy.

Either my Schrade 8-OT stockman, my Case CV large stockman, or my Queen slimline trapper. Any of them has done more than a year of solo duty.

Ignoring a SAK SwissChamp (which is really cheating IMHO), I'd have to go with my Queen/Dan Burke "Real Cattle Knife" (essentially a beefy equal-ended stockman, as far as the blades go). I guess that would put me in the stockman camp, as well--sort of.

Best regards.

Hmmmm........... first thing to come to my mind is my Vic Super Tinker. However, I think my Case Peanut would be plenty for my uses. Plus, before I even got my Super Tinker, that very same Peanut was all I carried for quite a while, and basically did all I needed it to do. Hmm. I think I'm going to go with my Peanut.
