I have had some rough times up in the high country and I know that #1 priority is a fire....
A knife is great super useful, yet if it rains for an hour or two, that Bow and drill or hand drill, made of now wet, probably green wood, is gonna be a REAL toughy! I doubt many can say that they are totally relient on this method.
You need to make a shelter? break some logs? Maybe u should use some large rock to break logs in half, by leaning the wood on a large boulder then smashing the log to make good breaks. This is super easy, and more energy efficient. Knife is not priority, though I wouldnt mind having one..or two
Anyways, as far as my experiacnce has brought me, I would have to say the firestarter.
