Spring starts 3-20-11(Sun) so its time to make room for new projects. I can't forge in the winter(real job and short days) so this winter I remodeled old knives and made period style sheaths for them instead of watching TV and turning the rest of my burned out brain to jelly.

Old Forgecraft Hi-Carbon Butcher
Knife is 13" overall w/ 8" blade
Added some tacks, rawhide "repair" wrap and linen cord wrap around bolster.
Aged blade and handle
Sheath is Crow/Blackfoot style with belt cutout(Belt goes over sheath and through cutout)
All leather is reused from a leather bag and a coat.
The cuff is braintanned scrap and the beading pattern from a photo
of a pipe bag.
Stitched with linen and some brass tacks
Sheath is 13" x 4 1/2" w/ 8" of fringe
Finished w/ homebrew dye, dirt, grease and varnish

$200.00 Shipped PayPal or USPSMO Thanks.....Randy

Looks amazing! Proof you can turn any old hickory or the like into a piece of art! Sorry I can't afford it but definitely worth it. I have a russell green river somewhere that would like this treatment.

Thanks Mr. LedZep, It has been fun "Remodeling" knives this winter. I would like to have a "green river skinner". John Russell, founded his Green River Works on March 1, 1834 on the banks of the Green River near Greenfield Massachusetts, the first production American Cutlery Co. Thanks again for the kind words........Randy

You're welcome. :). My granddad used to swear by them green river knives and the old hickory butcher knifes. He used to trap fur back in the day mostly fox and mink... I only have the green river hunter models. I think I have 4 GRs including two of his personal knives that I'll never get rid of(he has passed). If you PM me your address I really would like to send you one of my own. I ask nothing in return except pictures of the finished product then you can do whatever you want to with it. I just would want to see more customized pieces by you. Just for the sake of art.

Mr.LedZep
Thanks for the kind words and offer but I couldn't in good conscience accept one of your knives, BUT, I would accept an offer or partial trade , PM me ya never know. And I'll be listing two more of my "Wintertime Blues" projects tonight, Thanks......Randy
