1 year, 2 thousand post, 3-day, 4-knife, 5K Qs GAW

19 official entrants in the GAW, and these two winners were randomly chosen this morning:

edbeau (post #14) won the copperhead, and
TPVT (post #21) won the lockback (2nd choice - sorry).

I hope the winners will PM/email me ASAP with mailing addresses. Thanks to everyone who participated; your sharpening info and tips are much appreciated.
Congratulations to the winners! :thumbup::thumbup:

Awesome. thanks again to you GT. very generous.

That's an impressive tally for just one year GT. I've always appreciated your input on my threads and that little picture of yours of the little guy with the tash, Stetson and glasses is always a welcome sight. I'd like to say I'm in on this one if I may, that's presuming it's open to those in England, and if it isn't I applaud you for your good spirit anyway. I must say I'm not that clued up when it comes to sharpening, usually using the type of oil stones that carpenters use for their chisels, a couple of which I now myself own. I do also have one of those handy little porcelain rod doo-da's, which is great, particularly for SAK type blades. I always like to finish my knives off by stropping them off on a piece of prepared timber, that seems to work really well.

Still waiting to hear from edbeau with information on where to send the knife he won. If anyone corresponds with him regularly, please remind him of his good fortune!
(It might help if I could change the title of this thread to include the information that winners have been announced, but for several days now, I've been unable to edit posts, or at least the first post in this thread. The editor window opens, but I can neither preview nor save changes I make: the URL at top of page looks like it starts to preview/save but "hangs up" without ever finishing. I have to eventually stop the loading and "back up" out of the editor. Anyone else having this problem lately? FWIW, I've had the same problem trying to reply to PMs.
Another recent glitch is that I can't link to a moved thread; I get the message that I don't have appropriate "permissions" to do it.)

edbeau, I did get your address; thanks! I put the knives for you and TPVT in the mail on my way home from work today. The post office predicts the knives will be delivered on Monday; I'll send you guys tracking numbers.

Congratulations to the winners  Thanks again GT, for all your contributions here

I'm in and would love to get my grubby mitts on those checked brown bone covers:D
2) a Rough Rider 3.75" copperhead with clip and skinner blades and gunstock checked brown bone covers,
And the one-arm trapper is sweet too
4) a Rough Rider 4.125" one-arm trapper with clip and "razor" blades.
I do most of my sharpening on regular stones in various grades always ending with the strop & the best sharpening tip I was ever given was to "Imagine you are taking a very thin slice off the stone"

Congrats on the milestone & generous GAW

I am an amatuer sharpener at best but I have been able to get a serviceable edge on most my slippies with this lansky. Some of the best advise was just taking it slow and easy. Thanks and congrats on the milestone
1. Vic Camper
2. Copperhead
3. One arm trapper
4. Lockback

Wow, 2K posts in 1 year and 90 % of them in traditional. You're of to a great start, such a generous giveaway too.
I just wanted to say thanks for the generosity, congrats to the winners and I can only imagine what the next year will bring, . Keep up the great work and thanks for your posts.
