10-27 village models. Pix (maybe) and deal.

Nice snag RR, and Dan'll sure enough turn that rascal into a deer dissecter. Question though about splitting the breast bone with the Marble's. Were you chopping through it or driving the knife through it by tapping on the spine of the blade with a baton? The latter method's a winner well worth trying if you haven't already.

Sarge

Sarge, I just held it tightly with both hands, edge up, and pulled it through. It was all right through the first one, a button buck that I shot. My brother's doe was considerably older and tougher, it took a few small chunks out of the edge and rolled the rest. I had some concerns about the initial edge in the first place as it was very thin, I've reground it with a rubber block and sandpaper with a slightly more obtuse edge and it's just as sharp as before.

AAARRGH!!
Gone all gone :(
And with that is pen's touch
Oh the Humanity!!
Next time....

RR was this an old Marble's or one of the new 52100 steel models?
The edges on the new ones seem thinner than what I remember on the old ones. I haven't anything to compare my old Ideal with, but it's pretty obtuse and, except for over 50 years of sheath eating at the steel, in like new shape.:D

Yvsa, it's one of the new/old ones with 52100 steel. The new/new ones are using 0170-6. I haven't used one of them myself, but Buzzbait has spoken highly of them. Anyway, although I have no old/old Marbles to compare mine to, I've no doubt the edges on the new ones are thinner. It was really way too thin for a hard use blade, but thankfully it didn't fracture too badly when I split the breastbone. I'll have to put it through it's paces sometime to see how the new grind holds up.

Don't worry Tom, you'll get one sometime. Plus, I may smell a pass-around coming up soon...

I liked the old ones. I didn't have it for long though. My Daughter grabbed it and took it with her to Central America:) The new ones are made out of CS's Carbon V/0170-6C from what I understand so they should be pretty decent also.
