The orginal list it a pretty decent one. I swap out the BK9 for the BK7 and I'd put a couple of different Mora models on there. Everybody should own a Spyderco Military and either a Spyderco Delica or Endura.

My picks would just be repetitive but I'll say that I think classic models are good to start off with because they teach you a little more while you use them. There might be less folders with crap geometry and handle design. If everyone spent a year or two with a 110, Sodbuster, Trapper, etc. they would be slower to get a $120 folder that doesn't let them get their index finger within a half inch of the edge or struggles to really slice an apple.

That's what I was trying to say, too.

1. SAK (I'm not a big fan of SAK's, but, heck everybody should own one or two to stick in the glove compartment_

2. Buck 110 (better knives around? sure, but it's a classic and just so darn useful).

3. Moore Maker Medium Double lockback (try one, you'll like it)

4. Gerber 440C folding Sportsman, from the Good Old Days when Gerber made decent products.

5. Benchmade Mini-Griptilian

6. Bark River Gameskeeper

7. Blackjack Model 1-7.

8. Swamp Rat Howling Rat

9. Swamp Rat Camp Tramp

10. One of the 52-1000 Marbles Ideals from the Mike Stewart days at Marbles.
