I have been doing some looking and have not seen much that looks roughly similar. To the BM AFCK for a street price new or used for about $100.00. Anything come to mind with a roughly similar blade shape, 3.3 inches or longer, no particular steel, with a thumb hole but easy to open one handed? I have had Spydercis before but never learned to open fast without using the downward flick technique.

The 962 is a fine choice, but it's more Vex than AFCK, isn't it?

If there is something out there similar to the AFCK, I'd love to know too.

i got my emerson horseman for about $130.
my 2 favorite deployment methods, are either waving it out, or a quick shake and flick

I just spent some time searching since I had never heard of the Renegade and like the looks a lot. But it's long discontinued and doesn't even show up on the Popular Internet Auction Site.

Any chance this model is on Sal's list to be brought back from oblivion?

For just roughly overall stream-lined looks, what about a Kershaw Speedform II? ELMAX steel, 3.25 inch blade, and can be had for under $100.

I thought about that one too. Just wish the blade was a little bigger. VERY nice looking blade though.

The Spyderco Police and Police 3 are as close as you can get. The designer of the AFCK used the original Police Model as his inspiration for the AFCK. Used Police 3's can be found for $70-$100 if you look. The stainless handle ones for a little less if you don't mind some scuffing on the polished handles.
The Benchmade TSEK is identical in handle, but has a thumb stud instead of the blade hole, all depends on which opening method you like better.

Have you owned an AFCK? I've owned a couple and mini and didn't like any of them. Looks can be deceiving. I do like the Military and para military II, which are similar to the AFCK and Mini AFCK. The Spyderco Police and Police III are good knives as well. Or if you're looking for benchmades with spyder holes take a look at the Benchmade Dejavoo, it's one of my favorites.

My 806D2 has been my most frequently carried knife for the last 4 years. I'm not a fan of Benchmade much these days, but the AFCK and TSEK, to me, were instant classics, much like the highly revered 940 and 710; I really am stunned that they were discontinued. I wish BM would re-release at least the AFCK, but return the oval hole and drop the limited edition silliness and price. Wonderful knife. It's got one of the most comfortable grips I've ever experienced, and the blade shape and steel have performed perfectly for me.

I would vote for the Police 3 in terms of roughly-similar length and ergonomics, however the AFCK still gets the edge for ease and speed of opening, as the AXIS lock is much easier to open in numerous ways, and very fast. The Police can be quick to open, but overcoming the lockback spring upon opening means you have to be just a bit more deliberate. Depending on how you open your knife, that might be your preference.

Just a side note, but there are limited runs of the 806 AFCK with M390 blade steel. Black, plain edge. They are $200 though....

I'll second this. My DeJaVoo is one of my favorite folders, and is my EDC knife. S30V steel is nice, and seems to hold an edge well. ;)

The mini DejaVoo is one of my favorite Benchmades. Very slick knife, but has a completely different "feel" than the AFCK.

Actually, the Benchmade Pika II, although a lockback, has a quite similar blade and configuration to the Benchmad AFCK. The current alloy is 9Cr13MoVCo, a Chinese steel which has edge retention quite similar to that of 440C. If you get the model with Ti handles, it should run you about $60. If you get FRN handles, much less. I have the FRN model and like it.
