$100 to spend, need your votes!

If you think about the 2 knives for $100, you could take a look at the Kershaw JYD Composite, for a nice knife of good size. Then another Kershaw for what you have left. If you deal with kershawguy, you are going to get MORE than your money's worth!
No, don't just splurge on only Kershaw. Not saying their knives are not good, I love them, but a variety in designs and styles is always nice (like getting an AO, then getting something with a thumb hole).

As I mentioned in my earlier post, the Para 2 is an excellent knife. But after seeing the points made by subsequent posters, I think that given that your collection is still in its infancy, you might be better off getting two knives in the $40-60 range instead of one $100 knife.

I recommend the OP get the para2.

of all the knives i own, my para2's sees more pocket time than all of my other knives combined.

You can never go wrong with the para2, although the native 5 just came out (hard to get at the moment, so I am just waiting myself).

Yes. Especially for a newbie, getting a variety in designs and styles is the best way to learn what really works for you.

i do have a leek which is A/O i think. I dont like it so much cause i hate safety locking the blade, and i worry when its riding in my pocket.
i also had a spyderco salt 1, and love the spydie hole.

i learned from my flashlight buying that id much rather have a few quality knives than a bunch of mediocore knives. but im also not ready to spend $300 on a custom knive... yet.

i have a dragonfly G-10 coming in the mail, and my next purchase will most likely be an izula. i want to try out a fixed blade.
then depending on how i feel about that, its either a para2, or ESEE 4. there is a list full of spydercos i want to get too. but the para2 seems to get love at a different level by their users.
right now im thinking a folder for smaller, and a fixed blade or big folder for larger.

Ya cant go wrong with any of those but if it were me id go para as it will be the one you will likely find the most uses for. Also, if you like great slicers, check out the spyderco caly 3.5, for fixed blades chexk out the swamp rat rodent solution and scrapyard 511, both are great dependable users for $100 and both come with a balls to the wall no bs lifetime warrenty.

just a quick update to those who gave some great advice.

since starting this thread, i received my G-10 dragonfly. its been a nice EDC, in that i never even notice its on me. but there have been times when i felt like i needed something bigger.
got an izula. wrapped it in paracord. and really like it alot. ive even EDC it on a few occassions.
boker subcom titan... got this cause the price is right, and its my first titanium framelock hehe. love the design, but its fit and finish not as much. itll probably be gifted away at some time.
and today, got my para 2 in digicam. bigger in my hands than it appeared in videos and pics. the compression lock works great, its operation feels very natural. my index finger is sore from playing with it all day long.
after 20 mins of receiving my para2, and playing with it, i picked up my leek for comparisons, and without thinking, was searching for the compression lock on it. of course the leek is a liner lock. and it just didnt feel right LoL.

so far i like the para2, but im still not satisfied. now, im looking at the BM mini onslaught. will this ever end?? and i still want my med size fixed blade. hopefully a swamp rat RMD, but if i cant find one, a fallkniven f1 will do.
:)
