1000 uses for cattails: A forum exercise

I have seen small rounded huts made out of them in a museum. Might have been the Osage but a neat small home with a fire pit in the center and small smoke hole. I would be concerned about it being a tinder bundle.
 
If the raw material were plentiful they should make a long lasting, water resistant thatched roof for a shelter.
