Ok, so in commemoration of my 1000th post, obviously I need to give away a knife. I'm giving everyone (at least everyone who meets the criteria below) a chance to choose which knife I am going to toss into the BF pond. In order to participate, you MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:

1) Contribute regularly to the Traditional Subform and have more than 50 posts herein.

2) YOU MUST BE A PAYING SUBSCRIBER TO BLADEFORUM

3) Post a picture of your dream slipjoint...the one slippy that you put on a pedestal above all others (you may already own your dream knife but then again you may not)...not 2 pics, not 3 pics...just one pic. It can be production, antique, custom...whatever. Doesn't have to be the most expensive, just has to the pinnacle of your knife collecting wants and desires.

4) You CANNOT make more than 1 post in this thread...if you do, you will be disqualified from the drawing.

If you meet the criteria above, please vote on which knife you would like for me to give away using the poll above.

a) The top knife is a semi-custom sodbuster that was made by some craftsmen in the Smokey mountains. It is a very solid knife, never used, with great polished jigged bone.

b) The bottom knife is a prototype made by Amherst Cutlery with nice stag scales, never used.

I will draw the winning number on Wednesday, April 28 using any method I see fit ;) Good luck to all and thanks to everyone who has made my experience on Bladeforum one of the highlights of each day.

Thanks for the giveaway Campbell. The stag on that Amherst is scrumptious.

My first instinct was a Tony Bose Lanny's Clip in stag, but since that's already been called I wanted to pick something different. I was smitten the moment I saw this knife. Now if only I can get Mike to part with it.

Very generous of you, Campbell . Either of those beauties would be a real treat, but I chose the Amherst (Carver, I think) fur dat purdy schtag.

Here's my fave at the moment:

Edit: A Bose is too obvious a choice for a dream knife; they're in everyone's dreams! How about this tortoise Wharncliffe whittler by Bill Ruple? I've lusted after it since the first day I saw it (it was already sold, or I might have taken out a second mortgage to buy it :().

Thanks!

Haha...whoops. I just saw Flymon's giveaway and it has scary similar requirements. So I'm changing my rules...why...because it's my giveaway ;) So instead of posting a picture of your favorite knife that you own, I'm changing the rules so that you now have to post a picture of your DREAM SLIPJOINT...you may already own it, but then again you may not. What I want to see is a picture of the one knife that is the one slippy that you would do absolutely anything to get. This will give me a good idea of everyone's tastes. And for those of you who already posted pics before I changed the rules, your posts obviously still count.

Not sure it is a dream knife but it is my unabashed favorite, last knife I would part with, bury me with this one knife...Bulldog Stockman in stag

Campbell, thanks for the gifting. I really like your rules for this one.

Bastid posted this picture back in '09--still probably my favorite (dream) slippie of all time. The pearl, the blade grinds, the outright graceful elegance captivated me from the moment I saw it.

Congrats on 1K and thanks for the giveaway.

My preference for the ultimate folder would be a Scacgel style foder like this.

Campbell - very cool gesture!

Here is my one and only post for this thread.

And if anyone has seen one like this, feel free to call, e-mail, write, send smoke signals or whatever!!!!

(not sure who gets credit for the photo - if I knew, I'd be calling them daily!)

I'm happy to say that at least right now, at this point in my life, I've found my dream knife... the knife I wouldn't change a thing about. I'm sure another one will come along in a few years, but right now I don't see myself wanting or needing anything other than this one for every day carry.

My pictures don't do it justice, it's absolutely stunning, especially the reverse side scale.

Way to go Campbell!
The "Dream Slipjoint" is an interesting idea.
Here is one that if it were mine, I would not trade it for any other knife I have ever seen, but I would trade any knife I own for it. Preferably not my Kerry Hampton Lanny's Clip, but if push came to shove...
Must be my dream knife. I get a little weak-kneed just looking at it.

Nice give-a-way contest!.

I've cut and gutted onehelluv-a-lot of good game animals from the Florida swamps with this excellent, modern built, and custom hand-made in the traditional way by my silly forum friend--'Knife Head'--the 'Slippie Slapper'!..

This knife here is the only knife I ever carry.. Every Day!!.. :)

Congrats on 1000. Here's my dream slipjoint for the time being. Should be getting a couple real soon now. :D I've got this thing for barlows...

Welcome to the 1000 club, Campbell! Nice of you to celebrate in a folksy fashion with a time-honored Giveaway!!
So many dream knives to choose from! We are blessed with a bunch of current makers that produce just wonderful knives, but I have to admit, I am fondest of old ones. I always dream about finding a nice old knife with full blades, like this Camillus!

My dream knife???
Now that is hard!

It could be this knife in Stag with ATS34 blades

Thanks for the chance

My dream knife is a custom made TL-29:

Ebony scales a nice shield like on the early electricians knives, and blued or etched blades with a nice swedge on the main spear-point.

Thanks for this awesome chance and congrats to 1k.

This Ken Erickson locking whittler, which I do not own, left a hole in my heart after seeing it. At least I know she's making someone else happy.
Thanks for the chance Campbell, great gesture!

P.S. I chose the Amherst.
