This is my 1000th post and I decided to make it here, in Wilderness & Survival Skills!
For my 1000th post I have decided to do this:
1000th Post Passaround and Give-away
In celebration and appreciation of my 1000th post at Bladeforums.com I have decided to do a passaround and give-away of a KaBar Becker BK-2 Campanion.
I recently got a BK-2 and I like it a lot for what it is – remember, I like thick heavy knives as well. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=605382
This will be a brand new BK-2 when the passaround starts. I am waiting for it to come in and will start the passaround after I receive the knife and everyone is signed up. At the end of the passaround, the knife will be returned to me and I will pick a winner and ship it to them.
The BK-2 may not be your typical style knife but this is an opportunity for you to try something different to you with nothing but the cost of shipping the knife to the next person (typically less than $8).
The BK-2
Specs:
Weight: 1.0 lb.
Length: Blade length 5-1/2", Overall length 10-1/2"
Grind: Flat
Shape: Drop Point
Handle Material: Grivory
Stamp: KA-BAR Becker
HRC: 56-58
Edge Angle: 20 Degrees
Steel: 1095 cro-van
Country Mft'd: Knife Made in USA, Sheath Made in Taiwan
The Rules:
1. You must promise to ship the knife after 5 days of usage. Shipping must be USPS insured for 100.00 and sent Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation to the next person. A notification post of item received and item sent must be made in the BK-2 Passaround thread. After you receive it, contact me and I will give you the information for shipping to the next person.
2. You must take at least three pictures and post it in the BK-2 Passaround thread with your impressions of the knife. Post should be made within a reasonable amount of time of your use - within 7 days of your last day of use.
3. Use of the knife must be reasonable to outdoors or hiking/camping situations – notches, cutting, carving, and batoning are certainly acceptable but trying to pry a house or car door off isn’t.
4. Edge must be kept to the factory 20 Degree V-grind. If you can’t sharpen it to that angle, let me know and we will make arrangements. Edge should be resharpened before sending to the next person but if it is beyond your ability just advise and we will take care of it.
5. You must have at least 400 posts and a regular W&SS poster to be included. Or, if I know you personally, I reserve the right to include you if you have less. If you have less than 400 posts and are interested and I can verify your credentials or are a paid member and have contributed in the W&SS area I will consider it. Remember though the spirit of this passaround is for sharing information and payback for what I have learned here through contributions to this area.
*We reserve the right to not include you in the passaround if for any reason we are not sure of your intentions, etc.*
This Passaround and Give-away will probably last until April. It will include 12 members USA and 4-6 members from our northern border in Canada – that’s right, you are included Canadians! The passaround will go through all 12 members in the US and then be shipped back to me and then be moved to Canada (I have made arrangements to start with kgd and finish the Canadian side back to kgd).
If there are any problems with the knife itself it will be handled through the company and I don’t have a problem with handling it.
After it has been through all members and returned to me, I will draw the winner and ship – US or Canada.
I appreciate all the info, tips, tricks, and pictures/stories from W&SS and this is my small return to the members.
tonym and j williams have already been included in the passaround because of my previous inclusions in their projects and contributions to this area.
If you are interested, please post below that you are interested and a brief reason why you are interested (as little as a complete sentence of why). Remember, we are sharing information here! I will edit and update the list but it may not be the exact order of how the passaround goes. After I get the 12 US and 4-6 Canadian members, I will have you send me your addresses via e-mail so I can select routing to start the passaround.
Kevin and Brian – this one is open for you as well if you are interested.
Enjoy and good luck.
Thanks W&SS friends and members.
