Im looking at buying the atlas 100k burner and using a freon tank as the forge body.

It is ~9.5 inch diameter so with 2inches of kaowool i should be looking at 5.5 inch inside diameter before applying satanite.
How thick do i want to apply the satanite?

The tank is ~13 inches tall so the inside length would be about 9 inches after kaowool and before satanite.

From what ive read this isnt enough btu/ cu inch to reach welding heat.

What do you guys think?

Would i be better of with a different forge body?
I have a couple 7 inch diameter cylinders but that would only leave a 3 inch chamber

And what is the smallest Inside diameter you guys would consider to make medium size damascus billets??

Well, luckily the Graham burner is actually about 108k BTU, regardless it's still more than you need. A 9" long chamber is ~470 BTU per inch @ 100k, and 400-450 is the general guideline. Don't forget to account for the volume of your hard firebrick floor if your going to weld with flux. I just welding up a 5 layer billet of san-mai in an Atlas last weekend, 2.5" chamber and it was perfectly welded and fit nicely in it. Dry-welding works great!
