I would like to celebrate a great milestone with a giveaway contest! My sticky on sharpening “What is Sharpening a Knife About?” has been viewed over 100,000 times to date (and climbing!), and has been referenced on multiple outside forums. In celebration of this, and in appreciation of the fantastic MT&E community, there will be five prizes (4 general prizes and 1 grand prize):

General Prize: a professional sharpening of any knife of your choice by professional sharpener and longtime MT&E contributor Jason B. (you pay only for shipping to Jason, the rest will be covered, including return shipping)

Grand Prize: a professional sharpening of the knife of your choice by Jason B., plus a new DMT coarse diamond bench stone, plus a new Shapton 1k Glass Stone, plus a new Knives Plus Strop Block

Contest rules: No mods or new accounts (less than a week old) are eligible for the drawing, to avoid any impression of funny business. EDIT: The contest is limited to the continental USA (sorry to international members; we don't want to risk running afoul of knife laws, shipping issues, excessive int'l shipping/insurance costs, stolen cargo, etc.). You can post as many times as you like here, but you can only have one post considered for the drawing. You must start that post with the line “This is my contest submission post.” If you do not wish to be considered for the drawing, you can just leave that line out. The contest will be decided by computer random number drawing of post numbers.

The first drawing will happen at 2:00PM EST on Saturday, March 19 for the five winners. From among those 5, the grand prize will be drawn. I will use the Andrew Hedges online random number generator. If a drawn number is not a valid post (per the above rules), I will re-draw. I will then post the results in this thread and announce the winners. The contest is open until the time of the first drawing.

"This is my contest submission post."

Thanks!

I've modified how I sharpen knives more than 3 or 4 times since joining this site, and use various methods learned here depending on desired use, and laziness I'm feeling at the time!
