100th Anniv. Bowie's back!

Yes, they made and sold them. But they were limited editions. Usually for UST, DU, or a hallmark knife for some other large buyer. The seller is a good guy, just proud of his wares. I don't blame him at all for trying to get all he can for his knives. As you can see, he has his own ideas of their values, and he is willing to sit on them a while to get what he wants. He did get a few of the nicer boxes from the lot, including some of the lasered fileback 15OT pattern DU knives.

This knife first showed up as a one of a kind with seller brcromer from KS USA asking $3,500.00, then it sold for $1,180.00 to a guy in Italy. Now this guy has a starting bid of $69.00. He's in Austrial, but says the knife's in California and that it's a one of a kind. The pictures are the exact pictures, same shadowing and close ups, that were on the auction where the asking price was $3,500.00. Now he wants pre-approved bidders and won't accept PayPal. I emailed him and asked him why he wouldn't accept PayPal for this auction when PayPal is his preferred pay source on his other auctions. His response....

"Hello ,
For the moment my paypal it's unavailable because some mistakes made from the ebay and it will take a week or tow before I can use it . Let me know if you are interested .
Thanks , Rodrigo "

Then within the next 30 minutes the next email I get from him is this:

"Hello again ,

Sorry but I want to close the deal as soon as possible and I can't add you to the approved bidders list. Make me a good offer and we have a deal today .

Thanks, Rodrigo"

I'm very new to knife collecting and this makes me nervous... am I wrong to doubt this listing? I certainly don't want to cause any issues with sellers or buyers, nor do I want to "stir anything up" for someone that's very legit. I'm just really confused about this one. Any ideas????

Thanks, PL

FOllow the money. Contact the last buyer and ask him if he lost the knife, sold it, or whatever. COntact the previous seller and ask him the whereabouts of his knife, and if he gave this guy permission to swipe his listing text and photos. It could well be a scam from South Florida. Don't know till you check.

PL,
The knife sold on Oct. 2nd to someone with the handle artmotors2002. Is this the same name as your seller's? The odd thing is that even if it was mailed the next day, it would be pretty amazing for it to have arrived at the buyer's place already unless it was sent next day mail. Hence the copied photos. Just seems kind of wierd.

About 18 months ago some Crim element took over my Ebay name and listed Thousands $ of electronic gear he had photos of but obviously didnt own. I had the impeccable record he sought. He did not accept Paypal and wanted money orders sent to a Post Office Box Number.Ebay alerted me and said Crims have programs to go through multiple passwords until they hit it and advised me to change my Password immediately and make it mixture of numbers and letters.
So I as a supposed seller knew nothing of what was going on and it was weird for me to be telling Ebayers who had bid that it wasnt my articles. Ebay also advised them of course.
By registering Bidders first this potential scam has the ability to tell many "successful" potential bidders they can have the item and all can send Postal Orders, Money Orders etc to a Post Box and withdraw the listing. Is the actual seller aware or is that email link going direct to someone else???? Be very wary...I'm dinkum...Hoo Roo

Further to above post....I emailed the seller at his correct email address obtained through previous feedback and asked if he was aware he was selling the knife.
I notice the item has just been removed by Ebay and is an invalid item #120039315134. Does not sound like it was just sold privately more like a potential scam as above.
Can you throw any more light on the deal PL?? Hoo Roo

I emailed the original seller about the pictures and description being used in the new listing... and and have not received a response from him. I also attempted to email artmotors2002, the one that bought the knife for $1180.00 and was told by Ebay that I was attmepting to contact someone that I had no direct dealings with and Ebay wouldn't forward the email.... Since the knife is now gone I'm wondering if our contacting the seller caused him to alert Ebay and have it removed. Other than what everyone knows, I know nothing more, other than I would have loved to have had it and came real close to bidding on it when it went for $1180.00.. I can only dream..........
