Hello all! Hope everyone's well. Here to share another one of my hand-forged knives. I refer to this one as a mountain kukri, because it's kind of a mix of Patagonia and Nepal.

I forged it in coal from a Stillson pipe wrench and it is differentially hardened, although it didn't reveal much of a hamon line I carved the handle out of oak and handcrafted the bronze guard and pommel.

The full knife measures 17 inches. The blade was heat-treated in oil and hand sanded to 1000 grit with satin finish. As with all my knives, it's made to be used (on Etsy you can see a video of me hacking away with this kukri). Comes with a pretty neat scabbard. Any other questions, feel free to ask!

While I prefer to sell this knife on my Etsy shop -- where I'm offering you all a HUGE DISCOUNT that brings this $520 knife down to $416 with the code KUKRISUPERSAVINGS -- I am willing to consider other payment methods, just shoot me a message or comment here.

I am reducing the price on this because I'm trying to move out all my old stock to make way for some new production.

Oh! For those of you on Instagram, if you're not already you can follow us @forged.in.patagonia :)

Thanks for looking!

Interesting steel source... traditionally the kamis use truck leaf springs.
Skilled Kamis are producing incredibly good blades out of those leaf springs. With different hardness across the length of the edge for different purposes/tasks.

Hi! Thanks for all the comments! Yes, leaf springs are traditionally used. I chose the Stillson pipe wrench because I like to repurpose high-quality steel whenever possible, and, importantly, it happened to be about the right size. As for differential hardening, I did do a hamon on this blade so it will perform accordingly, even though the line itself doesn't really show.
