bought a used 105 (buck-105-usa)..is there a way to date it closer than 68-86?also what would be the right sheath for it?thanks
 
nagod, Your 105 is certainly not 1968-1971. More like 1972-1985. Without pictures thats a guess. Sheath; the pouch type w/ fold over flap and Buck stamped ONE time on snap. Which will have Buck tooled into flap of various scripts and sizes. Hopr this helps. DM
 
wish i had access to a camera.sheath is a wrap around type with 3 bucks on snap so i guess its a replacement..there are 2 dark maroon spacers on each end of handle(4 total) if that helps narrow it closer than 72-85.thanks again for increasing my knowledge
 
nagod, Yes that does help. Which puts it into 1979-85 and could have a blade of 440C or 425. DM
 
Still, its a darn fine knife which will cut very nice and serve you well. I like the 105.Try buying a 5" knife today w/ 440C blade, well built w/ leather sheath and see what it costs? I don't think pictures could take us any further on from this point. Unless you care to destroy it in order to have it tested. Just enjoy it, go camping and use it. DM
