1075 in the same HT lot as 1095?

What are the 1095 HT parameters? I do 1075, 1084, 1095 and 15N20 at 1475, soak longer for 1095 and 15N20 than the other two, then quench in DT48 (Parks 50 equivalent.)

I wouldn't be doing the HT, will be sending it out. Would probably want the 1095 around 58rc, I would guess the 1075 around the same?

1095 is usually hardened at 1475°F and soaked for about 5-10 minutes. 1075 is hardened at 1500°F and needs no soak. The soak time won't really matter if the 1075 is done in the batch, and the extra time will compensate somewhat for the lower temperature. If the blades absolutely have to be done in one batch, I would say that the best solution would be to split the difference, and austenitize at 1485°F with a 10 minute soak.

However, if you clearly label the blades so they can be separated, most HTers will do the blades in the temps and times needed. Just check with them first.

I always knew Stacy was a smithy god.... I didn't realize he had access to the sun for forging and/or heat treats! :D

I should have mentioned that I tend to soak a bit on the low side to get better results with hamon development.

Stacy HTs with his laser vision.

As he points out, a longer soak can compensate for a lower austenitizing temperature(within reason).
