I need shim stock that is about .025 to .040.
I use it for very small leaf springs, and a little goes a long way.

the banding they use on railroad ties is good stuff, ive used it before, and also alot of machine shops, if ya buddy up with them will hook you up with large quantities of bandsaw blades,

we have a bunch of metal cutting blade at work that are used and dull. there about 1" wide. but i am not sure if there all one steel or not. but i would rather work with known steel as i am i guess a steel snob of sorts
