iv bought o1,1095 and 1065. i just checked mcmaster carr for a piece of 1075 1.5 wide and.25 thick 25" long the price they have is $99.95 that has to be wrong? or is there something i dont know? i feel stupid asking this quest. ive never bought any before but i didnt think it would be more expensive than 01

I have bought a good bit from mcm-I looked and 1074-1075 mill finish .025--2" wide-5' long was $32.62+ shipping-You might have been looking at polished finish---Regards Butch

You looked up 1075, which is fully hardened (to a spring Rc), with a polished blue finish.

There is no 1/4" thick. The 1075 goes up to 1/8 thick.

You want the 1074/1075 (a different category). It is annealed with a #2 (mill) finish. Thickness goes up to 3/16; prices are about 1/3 that of the 1075.
