108 Billy Buck Froe Thingy

I'm glad you found a tool that works for you, and you didn't listen to the naysayers.

How much does that froe + sheath weigh? I doubt that it is lighter than my Fiskars hatchet at 19 oz.
23.2. So pretty close. Much more cutting surface with the froe. In the past, to ditch weight, I have left behind the hatchet scabbard and just wrapped them in cardboard and duct tape for the duration my trip.

Thank you. As a backpacker, you know how much each additional ounce means. 4 ounces doesn't seem like much, but it could be an additional piece of gear that provides comfort in the back country, or just hundreds of pounds off your feet when you add up the steps. If you figure in the sheath, I expect the whole package comes close to 2 lbs. A 2lb. axe is quite a capable tool.

I'm not saying to ditch your froe; you love using it and weight is not the only consideration. There is a spectrum of tools out there, so there is something for everybody. For those concerned with safety, you can baton an ax just as you do anything else.

I hope you keep having adventures in the wilderness; that is inspiring to all of us 👍
