I forged this from a 1 inch bar of 1080 high carbon steel and did an partial quench to give the edge a hardness of around 58 Rc. The edge hardness and geometry is the same as I would put on a large chopper therefor this axe cannot be sharpened with a file, it would just skate on the edge. Use a stone.
