1080 steel as apposed to 1084?

I know this question was asked once before but I cant seem to find it here. is 1080 a good substitute for 1084? I cant seem to get 1095 over an 1/8th thick thru Mcmaster-Carr (ordering it thru work saves on shipping cost plus I get a while to pay). So can I substitute 1080 for 1084? Thanks for any replys.

As far as I know, the two are almost interchangeable. Lots of guys around here have worked with both, you'll probably get better answers than mine.

Bout the same but I still like 1084 better. Get it from Aldo Bruno, look in the forsale section here.

USA knifemakers supply sells 1084fg. Tracy will get it too you pretty fast.
