This one is 1084 with stabilized maple burl.

The blade was clay coated, and does show a hamon, but I cant seem to take a decent picture of it. It has a file pattern that travels down the spine and from the distal taper to the end of the handle.

The handle is held on with 2 1/8th" pins, a mosaic pin a lanyard hole tube. There is also a black spacer between the scales and the tang.

The sheath is leather treated with beeswax.

Price - $155 shipped

They are both really nice blades but honestly it was the leather sheath that made the decision for me, never really liked kydex.

Wow! GREAT LOOKING KNIFE and WOOD :)

In my eyes that's as good as a knife and sheath get, well done.

I think wood's like that look great on your knives, keep that going all year!

Rule .308 I find the kydex very useful in wet weather. So far I order both a leather and kydex sheath when I buy one of Matt's knives.

Your work continues to stand out among the best makers on this forum in my opninion. I also like the leather work a lot better than some of the previous offerings. As you continue to improve and gain favor around here, I can't wait to see what it next for you...no pressure though...lol

Thank you all for your comments.

Peripheral, I dislike making sheaths, not too much, but enough that I let them all bunch up and have to make several at once. I appreciate the comment about the sheathmaking. It is not my 'forte' so to speak, but needs to be done if I want to be a knife maker.

Thanks Spearz. I have several pieces of stabilized burl, and a few on the way. I agree, it adds a lot to the knives.

Thanks again.

While Matt makes as good a kydex sheath as anyone they are still visually unappealing to me, so much so that I feel they actually detract from an otherwise beautiful knife. The last blade of Matt's that I bought I had another blade maker here on the board go ahead and make me a nice pouch style sheath for it and it turned out nothing short of awesome and now I have both kydex and leather for that blade should I want it. The other blade of Matt's that I own is one of his ringed fighters and even though it is a kydex sheath the way it is moulded into the ring on it is just too cool so I will not bother with a leather one for it. Now I will have one of his blades with a leather sheath from the get go, best of both worlds if you ask me.
