Forged 1084 Blackwood Fighter:

OAL 11.5" with a 7" blade of forged 1084. The blade was fully hardened and triple tempered then the spine has been triple drawn to a spring temper with a torch making the knife more durable. The African Blackwood handle has nice copper tones that accent the copper fittings very nicely. Comes with leather sheath and a written quality guarantee. Thanks for lookin.

I know very little about the ABS tests, and I certainly have never made a knife, let alone something like this. I thought that the knives were mostly 10" blades. Seven inches seems very short, to survive the bend to 90% test. Can you enlighten me in my ignorance?

Hey Ichor. When I say this is an ABS test blade I mean one of the five "panel" knives that gets judged based on execution,design, attention to detail etc... You have to pass the performance test before you advance to the panel knives. They have to be your best work. Thanks for asking.

Ah, thanks Dave. I had an idea it was something like that. Thanks for setting me straight. There appears to be only one pin in the handle. How far does the tang extend in this knife.

Here is a beautiful, very clean fighter with a 7" blade of forged 1084, fully hardened and triple tempered. The blade was given a torch spring temper along the spine three times to give it an extra degree of durability. The handle is of African Blackwood and the fittings are of copper. As with all of my knives I am the sole? author from sketch to forging to grinding to heat treat etc. and all Wenger Blades knives are tested for performance before they leave the shop.
