Hi all, here is a bowie I forged from 1084. Its been clay quenched it and it has a pretty nice hamon. The guard is 1084/15n20 damascus, and the handle is maple crotchwood. I vac treated the wood with Nelsonite, and it has a oil finish.
Tempered a total of 4 1/2hrs at 450deg
The grain in the wood was brought out with acid, and then finished with Formby finishing oil, then light buff.
The blade was hand rubbed to 500 grit, and etched.
The knife is 13 1/2'' over all. The blade is just under 1/4'' at the ricasso, and on a distal taper to the tip, and 1 1/2'' wide. The spine has been rounded off and the clip is ground sharp, but not sharpened to shaving sharp.
Price is $380 which includes sheath
