I've been getting my 1084 from New Jersey Steel Baron and he is now out of stock and so far I have not found another source. Anyone know where it can be found .125" x 1.5"? And if I cannot find any, what would be a good choice for an alternative? Ease of heat treating will be an important consideration for me. Thanks!
 
Call Kelly Cupples. He carries 1080 among some others and is an overall great guy to deal with. Orders over $100 ship for free as well! He also carries Parks and AAA quenches.

I called NJ steel baron a couple weeks ago and the lady who takes the orders said they should be getting more in by mid February. 1095 also was out and she said the end of February.

Thanks! I actually talked to Aldo yesterday and he said late Feb for 1/8" 1084. That will work for me. I really don't want to learn a different steel just yet.

I know what you mean, Aldo's 1084 is great and easy to heat treat with a small firebrick forge.
 
Good. I think that I am going to switch from 1/4 to 1/8 for damascus one I use up the last few bars of the big load that I got from Aldo a couple of years back.
 
I always buy enough to last me till the next time I see Aldo =)

Actually I've got more than enough to last me probably for 2 years now ! The last time I saw Aldo i spent 500$ on a whole ton of his low magnese 1075 =P

Agreed on the 15n20. I would probably go for that over 1084, myself anyway. GREAT steel!!! Prefer the 1080+ over both, tho!
