I'm in the middle of my temper and already did two hours at 415 and now it is on the bench cooling. still have 2 more hours and it is time to go to church.
is it ok to let it cool in the kiln? it stops it self.
but wont be back in time to take it out.

The blade will be fine. Go to church and don't worry about it.

I always let my knives cool down in the oven. Time at or below temperature will be fine.

Cooling from temper is no problem - quench ,air cool, or slow cool it's all the same.
