I think it would be a tough job to use wrap on a 1095 blade. I have tried to rip a hot knife out of a glowing foil envelope and it isn't easy and it is NOT fast. Your time to quench 1095 is very short and if left in the foil it would not have enough contact with the quench to make it. I believe even with water you would not make it as you would end up with little water between the inside the foil and then just a lot of steam. They do make some powders that you heat the blade up a bit then sprinkle on and it coats the blade. I tried it and it worked OK. But, 1095 isn't really all that hard to finish after hardening and tempering if you have a good 180-220 surface when you harden and keep it in a decent atmosphere when you heat it to critical. I don't get any pits or anything like that and any decarb is a bit soft and sands off.
Just my opinion Jim
